Girl Talk is proud to share pictures and details from some of our favorite fundraisers. A special thanks to all who made these events possible. All funds raised benefit Girl Talk's Chapter Development Fund, which allows us to continue to grow and support our Chapters at no cost to them.
Girl Talk & the Atlanta Dream Sleepover
Girl Talk and the WNBA's Atlanta Dream recently teamed up to host a sleepover to inspire middle school girls. The even was held at Phillips Arena on August 13th, following the Dream game. The Century Council, who also promote a fun and healthy lifestyle for teenage girls, was generous enough to be the sponsor for this event.
The more than 300 girls in attendance got to enjoy watching the Dream play, the Shooting Stars cheer team cheer them on, two Girl Talk Lessons, an appearance by Miss Teen USA, and ended with a movie and sleepover on the Atlanta Dream's basketball court at Phillips Arena.
An Evening of Thanks & Giving
Girl Talk hosted an “Evening of Thanks & Giving” during the week of Thanksgiving to celebrate our Atlanta supporters. Girl Talk Girls and Leaders served as volunteers as we wrote “Thank You” letters to our troops overseas. Guests also were able to purchase raffle tickets, bid on silent auction items and purchase great holiday gifts from Glory for Girls, PopRocks Jewels, Daughter’s Vintage and Stella & Dot. We were honored to have Miss Teen USA 2009, Stormi Henley show her “Girl Talk Support” as well. She had a great afternoon inspiring Sutton Middle School’s Girl Talk Chapter to “Dream Big”. We realize we have so much to be thankful for and without our supporters, Girl Talk could not continue to grow. A very special thank you to our event sponsor, Piedmont Better Vision and our fabulous location sponsor, Huff Furniture for making our event possible!
Project Inside Out - A Summer Camp for Middle School Girls
Girl Talk hosted “Project Inside Out” in Atlanta, GA the week of July 20th-24th at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Buckhead. The summer camp for middle school girls was led by high school girls (Girl Talk Leaders) who served as counselors to mentor the middle school girls throughout the inspiring week.
Project Inside Out encouraged the 65 campers and 20 counselors to focus on the inside, then the out! The girls learned to “Lead, Give & Inspire” through fun activities, inspiring Impact Sessions and daily keynote speakers. The girls wrapped up their week with a community service project serving three of Atlanta’s nonprofit organizations.
The week was so much fun and all of the campers, counselors and volunteers left more inspired than ever! Many thanks to our camp sponsors who made this week possible- Brown Bag Marketing, Chick-fil-A & Sterling Planet.
